A statement was once made that we hold
close to heart. "You can make bad wine from good fruit, but
you can not make good wine from bad fruit". One of the biggest
challenges the wine industries faces is the development of high
quality fruit acreages. Smoky Hill Vineyards & Winery sees the
importance of obtaining the knowledge and partnerships that make
high quality fruit grow. One day, we hope to see a return to
the near 6000 acres of grapes grown in Kansas just prior to
prohibition! Follow some of the links below and meet some growers and learn more about establishing a vineyard or winery in Kansas. Both the grape growing and wine making industries grow as the number of high quality vineyards and wineries grow. The beauty of these industries over many other is that working together and having growth, means more interest and growth for all. |
