The sun rises on the new Prairie
Sunset |
1 Chronicles 29:11:
Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the
majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and
earth is yours. |
Prairie Sunset
is a long-time favorite with Smoky Hill fans...and it arrives this
spring with a new look! This new look takes advantage of the
exquisite color of the wine. The image of these newly weds was captured on the winery grounds by
Salina photographer, Carol Roker.
Sunsets over the
prairie of central Kansas are often breathtaking in their splendor.
It is this majestic beauty that provides the inspiration for this
wine. Finished with just the right amount of sweetness to balance
the fruit’s natural acids and provide a cool finish on the palate,
Prairie Sunset is a versatile wine, enjoyed by those who prefer
sweet or dry, and pairs with a wide variety of foods. |

Another old friend with a new look:
Heartland Sonata |
 |
|
You can still look for
the cobalt blue bottle, and it will still contain that lovely,
subtle wine you've come to love! But no longer will you have to trip
over the name, as "Heartland Sonata" rolls off your tongue.
Heartland Sonata, formerly bottled
as Premium Spatlese. We're certain you'll love it even more!
The label was created by artist
Christina Mitchell. |

Smoky Hill Vineyards & Winery's Simply Red
Vintage 2004 took home honors from the Kansas State Fair as the Best
Red Wine in September. Long a favorite of Smoky Hill
customers, Simply Red is promoted as a versatile wine...not too sweet
and not too dry, making it a perfect transitional wine when Czech
Red and River Valley Red seem too sweet. With subtle hints of
fruit in the nose and light tannins, Simply Red has a semi-dry
finish to balance the acid and tannins in the fruit. Served at room
temperature or chilled, it is a favorite at our
winemaker dinners,
or on your dinner table with steaks or hamburgers....or try it with
thick, center cut pork chops with a delicate char from the grill. |

Taking home the prize for Best
Over-All Wine
was the 2004 Vintage Premium Auslese. Characterized as much by the
purity of color as it is poured from the slender tall bottle, as it
is the delicate aroma of tropical fruit, Premium Auslese is
the perfect accompaniment with poultry or delicate salmon,
deliciously refreshing with fresh fruit or a salad. Light to
medium-bodied, it will compare favorably with a fine German style sweet Reisling, but
features a blend of Vignoles, Vidal, Gewurztraminer
and Traminette.
