Smoky Hill Vineyards and Winery Staff had the opportunity to witness and participate in the festivities of an international, record setting event on March 4, 2005. Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic sponsored daredevil Steve Fossett in yet another pursuit of a world record: the first solo. non-stop, non-refueled circumnavigation of the world.

Events Coordinator Jen Jennings, Director of Cellar Operations, Brett Sula, and Sales and Marketer Betty Nelson hosted the wine and cocktail bar for approximately 200 members of the team and volunteers, international press and local VIPs at the reception celebrating the culmination of the historic event, the successful landing of the Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer with pilot Steve Fossett

Smoky Hill Wines served included Luce d' Bianco, Premium Auslese, Prairie Sunset, Heartland Red and Simply Red.
